69th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Commemoration Ceremony
August 17th is always a special moment for Indonesian citizens. On this day, the Indonesian people commemorate the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. As of August 17, 2014, Indonesia has been a Unitary State for 69 years. To that end, the Bandung Institute of Technology held a ceremony to commemorate the independence of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia at the Ganesha Sports Center (Saraga) field on Sunday morning (08/17/14). This ceremony was attended by the entire ITB academic community, including the rector, lecturers, and representatives from KM-ITB. As in previous years, all new students were required to attend the flag ceremony.
The theme of this year's ceremony is “With the spirit of the Proclamation of August 17, 1945, we support the succession of the National Leadership resulting from the 2014 Election for the sake of continuing development towards an increasingly advanced and prosperous Indonesia.“. Prof. Dr. Akhmaloka as the Rector of ITB became the inspector of the ceremony commemorating the 69th Independence Day of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia at Saraga ITB. ITB student, Edi Irtanto (Ocean Engineering 2012), acted as the ceremony commander. Edi is a member of the ITB Student Regiment. The ceremony protocol was also led by ITB student, Reza Marta Fauzi (Management 2011).
In fact, all the ceremony organizers were ITB students, including new students from the class of 2014. Some of the new students acted as flag-raising troops, and several others were part of the ITB Student Choir (PSM). The Waditra Ganesha Marching Band (MBWG) ITB also took part in this 69th Independence Day commemoration ceremony.
On that occasion, ITB Rector and ceremony inspector Prof. Dr. Akhmaloka presented the Satya Lancana Karya Satya awards for 30, 20, and 10 years from the Republic of Indonesia and 35, 25 years of service to ITB. Approximately 200 ITB lecturers and staff were awarded the award this year. This award is given to civil servants who have served for 10 or 20 or 30 years continuously and have demonstrated skill, discipline, loyalty and dedication so as to be able to be an example for every other employee.
Before closing the flag ceremony, Dr. Yedi Purwanto led a prayer, which was joined by all participants. This ceremony, commemorating the 69th anniversary of Indonesia's independence, carried the hope that Indonesia would remain peaceful and continue its development, led by the elected government from the 2014 elections, for the sake of an increasingly advanced and prosperous Indonesian nation.
