Ir. Syarif Hidayat Ph.D terpilih sebagai Ikon Prestasi Pancasila 2021 Kategori Sains dan Inovasi
Ir. Syarif Hidayat, MT, Ph.D., a lecturer from the Electrical Engineering Study Program at STEI ITB, was selected as one of the Pancasila Achievement Icons in the Science and Innovation category.
This selection was based on his contributions as a researcher and developer of the Indonesian Ventilator (Vent-i), which has contributed to the COVID-19 response in Indonesia. He serves as the Team Leader of the Indonesian Portable Ventilator (Vent-i), a collaboration between the Salman Mosque Foundation of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), the Bandung Institute of Technology (BIT), and Padjajaran University.
The Vent-I is an Indonesian-made ventilator created when Indonesia needed a breathing aid for COVID-19 patients, which was in short supply. Syarif acknowledged that the Vent-I's production and development involved numerous MSMEs, including the production of casings, hoses, and other components. In fact, several key Vent-I components are manufactured in Polman, while assembly is carried out in Polban, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, and Kudus.
In January 2021, Vent-I was officially manufactured at PT Panasonic Health Care. This marked a historic first for us, as a domestically produced product was manufactured by a foreign (Japanese) company.
