The Bandung Institute of Technology and the Banjarmasin City Government Agree to Develop Banjarmasin's Digital Transformation

Bandung (20/6/2022), stei.itb.ac.id – STEI ITB and the Banjarmasin City Government have established a collaboration to develop the Digital Transformation of Banjarmasin City as an initial step in helping accelerate the realization of Banjarmasin City's Smart City. The signing of this collaboration was attended by the Mayor of Banjarmasin H. Ibnu Sina, S.Pi., M.Si. along with the Head of the Department and related stakeholders. The signing of this collaboration was carried out between the Head of the Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Office (Diskominfotik) of Banjarmasin City, Windiasti Kartika, ST, MT, and the Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Bandung Institute of Technology (STEI ITB), Dr. Tutun Juhana. Tutun Juhana said that this collaboration is in line with the vision and mission of STEI ITB and STEI ITB has qualified and experienced human resources in helping digital transformation in cities and districts in Indonesia.

On the same occasion, STEI ITB Professor Prof. Suhono Harso Supangkat said that this digital transformation must be carried out comprehensively. "Digital Transformation is not only the task of Diskominfotik alone, but it needs to be comprehensive in every Agency according to their respective roles and functions. Diskominfotik provides the integration platform," said Suhono. Furthermore, STEI ITB Lecturer Dr. Arry Akhmad Arman said that this Digital Transformation is a necessity so that cities can answer various urban challenges today that are increasingly complex. Arry also said, "transformation means rapid change, technology is the enabler that makes this change possible."

Digital transformation is the integration of digital technology, changing operational systems and requiring cultural change. It is expected that the application of digital technology can have a fundamental impact on society. Digital Transformation is a complex process, so a Digital Transformation Framework is needed. The Framework provides various needs to support development or processes, increasing the efficiency of the transformation process to improve the quality of Transformation results. It is important to know the readiness and existing conditions of the city before implementing digital transformation. In this digital transformation initiation, the Bandung Institute of Technology provided Digital Transformation Assistance within the Banjarmasin City government. It is hoped that what is measured in this activity can serve as a reference for the implementation of digital transformation in Banjarmasin City. This activity also conducted an evaluation of digital transformation readiness in Banjarmasin City by conducting a digital readiness assessment and providing a workshop.
