Informatics Alumni Association Holds First Informatics Alumni Association Congress
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Informatics Engineering Study Program (Prodi), the ITB Informatics Alumni Association (IA-IF) held its 1st IA-IF ITB Congress. The event took place at the Benny Subianto Building in ITB on Saturday (3/11/12).
"In this activity, we will establish the IA-IF ITB," said Saiful Akbar (Informatics Engineering 1992), the chairman of the congress committee. According to Saiful, the Informatics Alumni have not had an official organization to accommodate them. "Even if there is one, it is only in the form of an association," said Saiful.
Through this 30th anniversary of the Informatics Study Program, the Informatics Alumni want to establish an official organization that can accommodate the activities of its members. "Thirty years is not a young age anymore," said Saiful. "It's time for us to think about a bigger role. It's time for us to think about our role in society," he added later.
Form Articles of Association and Elect the Chairman of the Alumni Association
The congress, which attracted approximately 390 alumni, featured several agenda items. The first was a discussion of the IA-IF's Articles of Association/Bylaws (AD/ART). The discussion was conducted through deliberation by all alumni present.
The next agenda item is the election of the IA IF Chairperson. Five candidates are running for IA IF Chairperson this term: Jaka Sumanta (Informatics Engineering 1985), Junaidi (Informatics Engineering 1997), Joseph Lumban Gaol (Informatics Engineering 1988), Narenda Wicaksono (Informatics Engineering 2002), and Reinhard Sitorus (Informatics Engineering 1983).
Initially, a vote was held to determine the final two candidates, followed by another vote to determine the first IA-IF chairman. The two candidates available after the first round of voting were Reinhard Sitorus and Jaka Sumanta. After the second round, Jaka Sumanta was ultimately elected as the first IA-IF chairman.
"I hope that the formation of this Alumni Association can increase the role of IA-IF in society," said Saiful.
