On October 23-24, 2013, held in Nusa Dua Bali, STEI ITB in collaboration with IEEE Indonesia Section and IEEE Indonesia CAS Chapter held the International Conference “IEEE International Conference on Electronics Technology and Industrial Development (ICE-ID 2013)”. At the conference, The inauguration of the newly established IEEE chapter, the IEEE Indonesia Solid State Circuit Society Chapter. The inauguration was attended by the President of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society, Dr. Rakesh Kumar. In addition, the election of the committee was also held, consisting of Chair: Dr. Trio Adiono, Vice Chair: Dr. Mervin Hutabarat, Secretary: Eva Muchtar and Treasurer: Ihsan Hariadi.

The conference aimed to convey the importance of the development of the electronics industry, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. ICE-ID was also established to provide a premier networking forum for leading researchers, industry players, and government regulators to discuss the latest research on technological advancements and development, government regulatory strategies, and educational systems to promote the establishment of the electronics industry. All areas of research were discussed at the conference, which was attended by nearly 75 participants from various countries such as Japan, South Korea, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and South Africa.

Rakesh Kumar was also the main speaker and the material presented was "Inspiring Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Microelectronics". While the keynote speaker on the second day was given by Dr. Richard Mengko with the material presented entitled "A continuous effort in a changing environment".

The conference also featured a panel discussion on case studies of the development of the electronics industry in Indonesia. Discussions covered technological development, regulatory history, and future strategies.
