JawaPos.com – Menteri Badan Usaha Milik Negara Rini Soemarno menunjuk guru besar STEI-ITB, Suhono Harso Supangkat, as KAI Commissioner. In addition, Suhono was also appointed as Acting President Commissioner of KAI.
The handover of a copy of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises' Decree was carried out by the Deputy for Construction Business and Transportation Facilities and Infrastructure, Ahmad Bambang, at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises Office, Jakarta on Tuesday (27/3/2018).
The event was attended by the Board of Commissioners and Directors of KAI, as well as officials and employees of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises. In his remarks, Ahmad Bambang highlighted the role of technological advancements in changing consumer behavior. Technological advancements require integration of transportation with the residential sector.
State-owned enterprises must be able to declare green, renewable energy, and smart city policies. "Through the appointment of this President Commissioner, it is hoped that cooperation between the Board of Directors and the Board of Commissioners will become more solid in supporting KAI's progress and expansion," said Ahmad Bambang in an official statement received by Jawapos.com in Jakarta on Tuesday (March 27).
Suhono is a professor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). He is a pioneer in the smart city concept, which supports sustainable development, and focuses his research in the field.
Smart City is a concept that presents comprehensive, real-time information about a city's condition. This information can then be accessed through a control room. This concept aims to provide city governments with direct access to information, not through "prompters," and to access as much information as possible in a short time.
Field observations can be conducted using sensor systems installed in various locations. This information system is expected to support transparent and sustainable development.
Data transparency with minimal manipulation can be supported. With a well-managed data system, the mayor and his administration can have comprehensive data on both past and present conditions. This is useful for predicting future conditions. This concept supports sustainable and better Indonesian development.
