Teams from STEI ITB Won First and Second Place in the Go-Hackathon Competition

GO-JEK, an application-based on-demand service provider, presented prizes to three winning teams of the GO-HACKATHON competition who succeeded in creating open source-based technological works to solve everyday problems.

The three teams managed to beat 36 other teams that entered the final round on March 25-26.

The GO-HACKATHON competition, which was held from February to March, was the first hacking marathon competition held by GO-JEK and had the theme #KaryaTanpaBatas.

"We appreciate all the participating teams who have competed in GO-HACKATHON. Through GO-HACKATON, we are increasingly convinced that young Indonesians are a generation full of innovation and can produce solutions to social problems in society. They just need to be given the opportunity. Therefore, we hope that holding competitions in the technology sector like this will produce innovative technological works and have a social impact and even accelerate national development," explained Monica Oudang, HR Director of GO-JEK Indonesia in Jakarta, Tuesday (4/25/2017).

The first place winner of GO-HACKATHON was won by the SAILLY team from Bandung, which consisted of two STEI ITB students and one alumni:
Alif Raditya Rochman
Ahmad Zaky – 13512076
Andre Susanto – 13512028

They won the grand prize of Rp. 120 million in cash.

The SAILLY team developed a tracking service called GO-TRACK, which can help users find lost items on the road. This tracking system has the advantage of utilizing Bluetooth, eliminating the need for internet, being inexpensive, and having a battery life of up to one year.

The second position was won by the SSX_Ceria team, which also came from STEI ITB:
Muhammad Mustadi (13210056)
Fadil Mochammad ( 13212118)

This team was inspired to create a technological masterpiece from the GO-JEK logo. The SSX_Ceria team developed Caprica, a smart helmet that integrates protection, data gathering, and user comfort. This smart helmet has three superior features, namely: SOS Alert which functions to send a distress signal to the nearest ambulance if the user has an accident; Bluetooth Speaker that can connect driver partners with GO-JEK users when there is a call, finally Speed Warning that connects the helmet to the vehicle's accelerator via smartphone GPS. The team members each won a Macbook Pro.

Slightly different from the previous two teams that provided solutions while driving, GO-HACKATHON's third-place winner, Team Quantum Sigmoid from Jakarta, created a Cloud-Based Food Image Recognition service. By simply taking a picture of a food, the service can recognize its name. This technological creation utilizes artificial intelligence and deep learning. The team, led by two Bogor Agricultural University graduates, each received a Google Pixel smartphone.

"The judges selected these three teams because they had original, implementable, and impactful ideas. Furthermore, they were able to translate their ideas into a fully functional service within just 24 hours. During the judging process, the judges also had difficulty deciding on the winners, as the shortlisted entries were so excellent," Monica explained.

The five best technological creations at GO-HACKATHON can be accessed and utilized by the general public at https://github.com/GO-HACKATHON.

The GO-HACKATHON competition was attended by 415 teams from various backgrounds, from high school students, college students, to professional developers from various cities in Indonesia.

Nearly 50 percent of participants came from outside Java, such as North Sumatra, Bali, Gorontalo, Makassar, and Kalimantan.

Of the 415 teams, 39 teams entered the final round, and realized their ideas by writing program code within 24 hours at the GO-JEK Office.
