Erdy Suryadarma (Telecommunication Engineering 2011) won the 2013 Google Student Ambassador Award - from Hobbies to Achievements -
This year, ITB again participated in the Google Student Ambassador selection after sending two representatives in 2012, Prasidhi Artono (Industrial Engineering 2009) and William Lautama (Industrial Engineering 2008). This time, Erdy Suryadarma (Telecommunication Engineering 2011) was selected as one of ITB's representatives as the 2013-2014 Google Student Ambassador along with Andyka (School of Business and Management 2010) beating hundreds of other students in Indonesia. In June, the forty-three GSA 2013-2014 across Southeast Asia will meet and be equipped in an international conference.
His hobby of videography and filmmaking made Erdy interested in joining the 2013-2014 GSA recruitment. He has participated in various videography competitions such as Photologic and Filmology BFM FKUI, Parahyangan Film Festival 2013, Creabo Film Festival 2013, LA Lights Indiemovie Short Movie Competition. The work of Erdy and his colleagues from the ITB Student Film League entitled "Love Paper" even won the title of "Best Film" at the 2013 Creabo Film Festival organized by the Faculty of Communication Sciences, University of Indonesia. In addition, Erdy is also active in the Google Developer Group, a non-profit developer community that studies, shares, and further explores the technological evolution of Google and various other face-to-face application programs. Starting from this, Erdy put forward the idea of "Google Video Competition".
As a Google Student Ambassador 2013-2014, Erdy also acted as an intermediary between Google and ITB, participated in the innovation of various products and programs from Google, and planned and organized an event related to Google products. The Google Video Competition was the fruit of Erdy's thoughts that he wanted to bring as a Google Student Ambassador. According to him, the influence given by the rapid advancement of technology is very large. Google which initially started as a search engine was able to penetrate various other facilities such as Gmail, Google Drive, YouTube, and even Android. The influence of a technological innovation is even felt to be able to change a person's lifestyle. This also became one of Erdy's motivations to participate in the 2013-2014 GSA recruitment.
Erdy initially learned about the 2013-2014 GSA recruitment from one of his lecturers. Together with his friends, Erdy pioneered MUVE INDONESIA, which is a production house which serves TV manufacturing commercial, company profileof course, armed with the videography skills that Erdy and his friends possess. "Learning is indeed a student's obligation, but it's even better if it's balanced with gaining experience, friends, and socializing. The point is, don't limit yourself and keep learning," he concluded.
Lastly, we all hope that the 2013-2014 GSA can be good ambassadors on campus so that more ITB students & lecturers know, use and feel the benefits of Google products; and can also enrich themselves with knowledge and new friends that make them tough competitors not only in Indonesia, but also the world.
