SEEI ITB Lecturers Receive Award in 116 Inovasi Indonesia 2024 with Digital Microscope Assistant (DIMAS)

Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – Prof. Andriyan Bayu Suksmono and the team from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB); including Donny Danudirdjo, PhD (SEEI ITB Lecturer), Almer Fandriyanto, MT (Research Assistant at PPTIK ITB), Amarruddin Mu’tadz (Technician at KK-BME), Dr. Riries Rulaningtyas (Lecturer at Universitas Airlangga), and the team from PT Kirei, successfully received an award as one of the winners in the “116 Inovasi Indonesia 2024” event organized by the Business Innovation Center (BIC). Their innovation entitled “Tuberculosis Bacteria Sample Observation System Using Digital Microscope Assistant (DIMAS)” was recognized as one of the most prospective innovations of the year. This microscope system is a by-product of the IMPACT program, a collaboration between ITB and MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL-MIT) that had been previously initiated. . . .. . .

The “116 Inovasi Indonesia 2024” competition is an annual event organized by BIC to identify and promote the best innovations in Indonesia. This year, the judging process was conducted online in January 2025, with 50 selected proposals out of 226 proposals submitted throughout 2024. . . . .

The DIMAS innovation offers a solution for observing Tuberculosis bacteria samples by utilizing a digital microscope assistant. This is expected to improve accuracy and efficiency in the diagnosis of Tuberculosis, which remains a major health challenge in Indonesia. . . .. ..

This achievement is not the first for SEEI ITB in innovation events organized by BIC. Previously, in the 114 Inovasi Indonesia 2022 and 115 Inovasi Indonesia 2023 events, the RADAR innovation from SEEI ITB was also selected as one of the winners.
