Bobbi Winema Yogatama (EL ’14), Graduate with Perfect IPK
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – High praise is due to Bobbi Winema, a graduate of the Electrical Engineering Study Program at the Bandung Institute of Technology. She graduated cum laude with a perfect GPA of 4.00 at ITB's Third Graduation Ceremony for the 2017/2018 Academic Year.
The Bandung native said that achieving a perfect GPA isn't easy. It requires struggle and hard work. The effort will undoubtedly pay off. His achievements have undoubtedly earned Bobbi a spotlight not only among fellow ITB students but also the world.
During her time at ITB, Bobbi focused not only on academics but also on the ITB Electrical Engineering Student Association (HME) and 8EH Radio ITB, serving as a radio announcer and Master of Ceremonies. As a result, she was frequently appointed as a presenter for various ITB events.
However, academics remain Bobbi's top priority. Her achievements have earned her the trust to be an Indonesian delegate in the Summer Student Program held by CERN, a nuclear research institute based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Bobbi said the secret to her academic success is that students strive to love the subjects they take. Therefore, she doesn't have a specific course she particularly enjoys. "Whether we like or dislike a subject is usually due to our ability or inability to do well in it. But if we can learn to love all subjects, we'll be able to complete them all well," she said.
"To be honest, I didn't really like the Signals and Systems course because I found the concepts very difficult to understand. But after trying, I finally understood the concepts, got a good grade, and the following semester I became a teaching assistant for the course," he continued.
Meanwhile, Bobbi, now officially an ITB alumnus, advised ITB students to become fluent in English. According to him, fluency in English will make it easier for students to find resources for their studies and increase their opportunities for personal development. Bobbi also reminded them that life is simple; anyone can be successful if they can get back up every time they fall.
"Being a student doesn't require a genius, but rather a clever way of prioritizing what's important and what's not. Furthermore, being a student also requires persistence when trying, especially when studying. What does that mean? If we've studied and still don't understand the material, we study it until we do, and if necessary, read it over and over again until we understand. Being persistent in this context means never giving up, no matter how big the obstacles are, even when we fall," he concluded.
After graduating and being confirmed as a bachelor, on one hand, she felt joy at completing her undergraduate studies. But on the other, she felt sadness at leaving the alma mater where she had studied. However, Bobbi said, graduation remains a gateway for students to enter the reality that will determine their future life paths.
