Team STEI ITB Wins First Place in Okinawa, Japan
Congratulations to the Sedap Malam Team,

Alhamdulillah, for the umpteenth time, the ITB Team won first place in the Smart Info Media (SIS) Award at the LSI Contest Okinawa. SIS is a member of the prestigious Japanese journal IEICE (http://www.ieice.org/~sis/). Team ITB (Team Sedap Malam) consists of Idham Hafizh, Aditya Ferry, Septian GilangAll participants were participants in the VLSI system design course at STEI, EL 4040 (a course in the Electronics Study Program at STEI). The first place winner represented excellence in Academic Excellence, Industrial Applicability, and New Innovation. The ITB team successfully designed a prototype chip that ran in real-time (and could be demonstrated).
This year the title of the design is: System on Chip Design (SoC) and Implementation for Noise Cancellation System
The design description is: The design of a noise removal system for speech signals is introduced using a hardware-software approach and implementing several algorithms such as Spectral Subtraction and Variable Speech PDF. The advantage of this approach is the flexibility in developing algorithms. In addition, a hybrid computing strategy is also used, namely utilizing floating point units to carry out certain arithmetic operations, so as to improve software performance. The introduced design can also run in real-time so that it can be demonstrated using FPGA well.

The competition was held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the 50th anniversary memorial hall, dept. Computer Science, University of Ryukyus, Japan.
There are 8 finalist teams, from Japan, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Champion :
SIS award (1st): Sedap Malam from ITB
Synopsys award (2nd) : SET611-HUST from Hanoi University of Science and Tech
Sangyo Times award (Best Industrial) : SHOT team dari Chiba University
