SEEI ITB History

The School of Electrical and Informatics Engineering (SEEI-ITB) was officially established on January 1, 2006, as a merger of two departments at ITB, namely the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Informatics (SK 222/SK/K01/OT/2005). Both departments have a long history in providing higher education in Electrical Engineering (EL) since 1947, and Informatics Engineering (IF) since 1982.

Along with the development of the 2008 Curriculum and the needs of the community and industry SEEI ITB opened and added three new study programs. This is evidenced by the issuance of the Rector’s Decree Number: 268/SK/K01/OT/2008 concerning the Opening of the Undergraduate Study Program in Electrical Power Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Systems and Information Technology on November 26, 2008.

In 2016, the Biomedical Engineering program officially began its operation. Therefore, STEI currently offers education in a total of six Bachelor of Engineering (S1) programs, namely Electrical Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Systems and Information Technology, and Biomedical Engineering. Each program consists of eight semesters with a total of 144 credit units. In addition, STEI ITB also offers Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) programs.
