Visit of the ITB Electrical Engineering Alumni Association of the Indonesian Air Force to HME SEEI ITB: Nostalgia and Collaboration for Technological Development
Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – On 19 October 2024, the CRCS Multipurpose Hall, 3rd Floor, hosted a special visit from members of the ITB Electrical Engineering Alumni Association who are currently serving in the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU). The event was led by Mayor Lek Dedi as field coordinator and was also attended by the Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), who delivered a warm welcome to the alumni. In his remarks, the Dean of SEEI ITB expressed appreciation for the contributions of TNI AU alumni in supporting education and technological innovation at ITB, and conveyed hopes that this collaboration would continue for mutual advancement. . .
The visit involved TNI AU alumni who were previously admitted to ITB through a special selection based on military expertise, particularly in electronics (LEK) and aviation (PNB). In addition to reminiscing and touring the campus using the Bandung Tour on Bus (Bandros), the event included a social gathering at Koharmatau, Husein Air Base, as well as exploration of several key ITB facilities, such as the aviation laboratories, the Honeywell Lab, Plaza Widya Nusantara, the Soekarno Monument, and the secretariat of the Electrical Engineering Student Association (HME). At the end of the activities, the guests enjoyed a lunch accompanied by a performance from HME ITB’s band, HME Haze, adding to the warm and friendly atmosphere.
On this occasion, the TNI AU alumni presented a token of appreciation in the form of a 65-inch smartboard to support the learning process at HME ITB. Collaboration between HME ITB and the TNI AU also opens opportunities for students to hone creativity, innovation, and work discipline. Furthermore, the event provided valuable learning opportunities for students in managing activities involving cooperation with organizing committees from the TNI AU.
This visit not only reunited alumni with their alma mater but also opened doors for future collaboration. Initial discussions between SEEI ITB and the TNI AU resulted in plans for joint research in the field of electrical engineering, focusing on communication and electronics technologies, as well as other innovations needed by the Air Force Communications and Electronics Service (Diskomlekau) and the Air Force Research and Development Service (Dislitbangau). This activity is expected to further strengthen relations between ITB and the TNI AU, while serving as a tangible contribution to the advancement of Indonesia’s defense technology.
