Widyawardana Adiprawita was born on September 27, 1974, in Yogyakarta. He attended SMA Negeri 3 Yogyakarta and graduated in 1993. His interest in science and technology led him to the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), where he earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree in 1997, graduating cum laude. He then continued his postgraduate studies at ITB, earning a Master of Engineering degree in 2000 and a Doctorate in 2011.

Since 1997, he has been a lecturer at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), which later developed into the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) ITB. Within STEI, he has been active in the Biomedical Engineering Research Group, with research focuses on robotics, embedded systems, artificial intelligence, and smart technology applications for health and the environment.

Throughout his academic career, Widyawardana has become known as a multidisciplinary researcher bridging the worlds of robotics and biomedicine. His work spans the development of autonomous robots, mapping hazardous environments using collaborative ground and aerial robots, biomedical instrumentation, and utilizing machine learning for physiological signal analysis. His scientific publications have been cited hundreds of times and presented in numerous international journals and conferences, reflecting his active contribution to the global research community.

In addition to research, he is also involved in various innovation projects and applied technology development, including a UV-C-based disinfection robot, a human motion monitoring system for sports and health, and a low-cost medical instrumentation device. He also contributes to the development of curriculum and educational laboratories in biomedical instrumentation and robotics at ITB, strengthening the research- and project-based learning ecosystem.

Outside of formal academic activities, Widyawardana is known for his close relationship with students and actively mentors various student teams and activities, particularly in the fields of robotics and autonomous technology. His communicative and exploratory teaching style has earned him a reputation as a lecturer who encourages creativity and engineering rigor.

Widyawardana married Rostiany Harahap in 1999 and has two children, Ronggur Mahendra Widyaputra and Dinda Maharani Widyaputri. In his academic career, he pursues a passion for panoramic photography and visual exploration, reflecting his fascination with the intersection of technology and art in understanding the world.

With over two decades of experience in academia and research, Widyawardana Adiprawita remains committed to developing smart technologies that impact society, particularly in the areas of health, the environment, and autonomous systems.
