Rachmawati,
Dr.Eng. S.T., M.Eng.

Power Engineering Research Groups

Rachmawati (born in Bandung, February 3, 1988) is an academic and researcher in the field of electrical engineering, with a focus on high-voltage insulation, dielectric materials, and electrical equipment diagnostics. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology (2005–2010) with cum laude honors, then continued her Master's studies at Tohoku University, Japan (2011–2013) as a recipient of the MEXT scholarship. At the master's level, her research highlighted wireless power supplies—in short, "charging without cables" before it became a lifestyle for many people.
Having “come down from the mountain” to industry as a Junior Staff Production Control at PT NOK Indonesia (2013–2017), Rachmawati then returned to the academic world as an Academic Assistant in the Electrical Power Engineering (EPE) Research Group of ITB (2017–2019). She continued her doctoral program at Nagoya University (2019–2022), also with a MEXT scholarship, with the topic of Functionally Graded Materials (FGM) for electric field grading on HVDC GIS/GIL equipment. Since 2022, she has been active as a Research Assistant at EPE ITB, then became an Academic Assistant (2023), Research Faculty (2023–2025), and as of September 2025 officially became a lecturer at STEI ITB—so if the “live voltage” fluctuates, at least high voltage matters in the lab remain safely under control.

His research productivity is reflected in reputable journal publications (including Q1), Scopus 9 H-index, and strong citation achievements on the topic of FGM and high voltage insulation. He also received various international scientific presentation awards (e.g., Excellent Oral/Presentation Award), led or was involved in research grants (including as PI in several 2024–2026 schemes), and was trusted to handle electrical asset consulting projects such as GIS assessment/reconditioning studies with PLN Enjiniring. On the professional side, he is active in international conference committees (e.g., as Technical Program Chair/Secretary), supervises undergraduate–doctoral students on the topic of insulator coating materials and insulation performance, and is proficient in simulation tools such as COMSOL, ATP/EMTP, P-Spice/LTspice, and Maxwell 3D. He also has English (TOEFL iBT 92) and Japanese (JLPT N3) language skills.
