Dr. Irma Zakia is an academic and researcher at the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI) Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), specializing in communication systems and technology. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering and Doctorate from ITB, and a Master of Science from RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

As an academic, Dr. Irma has extensive teaching experience, covering both conceptual topics such as signal processing and advanced courses that discuss the application of deep learning to optimization problems. She also actively mentors students at all levels and synergistically seeks research grants to support their activities, both at the ITB and national levels.
Penelitian Dr. Irma berfokus pada solusi cerdas untuk optimisasi jaringan komunikasi masa depan, dengan penekanan pada pengalokasian sumber daya yang dinamis dan scalable untuk komunikasi antena jamak dan gelombang milimeter/terahertz. Hasil penelitiannya telah dipublikasikan di berbagai jurnal internasional bereputasi, yang mencerminkan kontribusinya dalam pengembangan sistem dan teknologi komunikasi di tingkat global.
Dr. Irma also plays a role in institutional development, leading the faculty quality assurance team, and coordinating the development of STEI's 2026–2030 Strategic Plan. She is also a reviewer for several international journals published by IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier and serves as a member of the technical program committee (TPC) at several international conferences.
