“Prof. Bambang Riyanto Trilaksono was born in Banyuwangi, November 15, 1962. He received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ITB, in 1986, and his Master's and Doctoral degrees in 1991 and 1994 respectively in Electrical Engineering from Waseda University, Japan. Currently, Prof. Bambang is a Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI), ITB, and Head of the Control and Computer Systems Expertise Group, STEI, ITB.

Prof. Bambang is one of the founders of the Center for Artificial Intelligence, ITB. From 2015 to 2020, Prof. Bambang served as Vice Rector for Research, Innovation and Partnership, ITB. In 2020-2022, he became Expert Staff to the Rector of ITB for Research and Innovation and currently serves as Chair of the Future Scientific Commission, Professors Forum, ITB. Prof. Bambang has been a visiting scientist at Waseda University (Japan), Paris-Sud University (France), Twente University (Netherlands), and from 2012 until now is a research fellow of the University of New South Wales, Australia. Prof. Bambang also collaborated in research with MIT in the development of Artificial Intelligence for Robotics and Autonomous Vehicles. His research interests and expertise are Artificial Intelligence, Robotics & Control.

Prof. Bambang has published 190 articles in Scopus-indexed journals and seminar papers, and holds 15 copyrights, industrial designs, and patents granted and registered, including in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Prof. Bambang is the former chairman of the editorial board of several ITB journals indexed in Scopus, and is currently a member of the editorial board of several international journals including the Journal of Intelligent Unmanned Systems (Emerald), the International Journal of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, the Journal of ICT Research and Applications, and the Indonesia Internetworking Journal.

Prof. Bambang is a co-founder of start-ups in the field of AI, namely Artificial Intelligence Research (www.riset.ai) and Serenic.ai, which respectively specialize in innovative products in computer vision in various fields and Generative AI in the health sector, and have been applied in several industries/companies/institutions. Prof. Bambang is a member of the National Strategy Team for Artificial Intelligence, and led the National Research and Innovation Taskforce Team in the field of Artificial Intelligence for Covid Detection under the coordination of Ristek/BPPT (TFRIC-19) in 2020. Prof. Bambang received the Toray Science & Technology Award in 2004 for his research on Artificial Intelligence in active noise reduction, and in 2019 received an award as an outstanding researcher at ITB.

Prof. Bambang is a member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer) and ACM (Association of Computing Machinery). Prof. Bambang was involved as a member of the drafting team for the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Indonesia 2020-2045, also one of the founders of the Korika organization (Artificial Intelligence research and innovation industry collaboration), and the expert team of AI RAM (AI Readiness Assessment Methodology)-UNESCO for Indonesia. Prof. Prof. Bambang also has experience in industry, especially the aerospace industry (IPTN).

Prof. Bambang leads the research and innovation team for the development of underwater autonomous vehicles in collaboration with BMKG & BIN and autonomous vehicles/trams using Artificial Intelligence (Rispro-LPDP), in collaboration with PT INKA and Artificial Intelligence Research. He is currently collaborating with PINDAD to develop autonomous comba vehicles and ADAS for the Maung vehicle.

Prof. Bambang is also actively involved as vice chair and international program committee of several international conferences, including ICIUS (International Conference on Intelligent Unmanned Systems) and Asian Control Conference. Bambang is also one of the editors of the book entitled "Intelligent Unmanned Systems: Theory and Applications", published by Springer in 2009 (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-642-00264-9), and published a book entitled "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence: Introduction to Machine Learning", ITB Press, 2023, as well as editor of the book entitled "Use Cases Artificial Intelligence Indonesia: Embracing Collaboration for Research and Industrial Innovation in Artificial Intelligence", BRIN Publisher, 2023. Since November 2024, Bambang has been assigned as Chair of the AI ​​Committee, Ministry of Health. Also as one of the Deputy Chairs of the Indonesian Artificial Intelligence Roadmap Development Team, which is coordinated by Komdigi. In recent years, Bambang has often been invited as a resource person at various seminars/webinars/forums/trainings on Artificial Intelligence and its applications in various fields.
