Bandung, Indonesia – January 15th, 2024 – The xG Research Center of Use Cases and Applications (“xG Research Center”), a collaborative initiative between the School of Engineering and Informatics at Bandung Institute of Technology (STEI ITB) and PT Huawei Tech Investment, today announced its research focus for the second year of operation. Building on the successful completion of its first year focused on 5G-to-Business applications, the Center will now delve into critical areas of 5G infrastructure development, diverse applications of 5G technology, and the utilization of publicly available tools and platforms.

Throughout 2023, the xG Research Center dedicated its efforts to exploring the potential of 5G to transform key vertical industries. The research focused on smart mining, smart warehouse, and smart campus environments, with the development of use cases for drone inspection, 5G-accessed AR/VR content, and smart environmental surveillance. The primary objective was to define network parameter criteria that optimize 5G implementation in these sectors, paving the way for tailored 5G network deployments that meet the unique needs of each industry.

The Center successfully delivered its research findings at the end of 2023, providing valuable insights and recommendations for industry stakeholders.
