xG Research Center Builds 5G Network Model with Interactive Data Visualization: Democratizing 5G Research and Accelerating Innovation

Bandung, Indonesia – March 18th, 2024 – The xG Research Center of Use Cases and Applications (“xG Research Center”) today announced a new research initiative focused on building a 5G network model using publicly available components and visualizing its performance through interactive data analysis tools. This project, led by researchers Trizzos Gabriel Limbong, Dr. Ing. Chairunnisa, S.T., M.T., and Dr. Ing. Eueung Mulyana, S.T., M.T., aims to democratize 5G research and accelerate innovation by providing a cost-effective and accessible platform for exploring and analyzing 5G network technology.

Unlocking the Power of 5G through Accessible Innovation

Recognizing the critical role of 5G in driving technological advancements, the xG Research Center is building a 5G testbed using publicly available components. This approach offers several advantages:

  • Cost-Effectiveness: Utilizing publicly available tools eliminates the need for expensive proprietary software, making 5G research more accessible to a wider range of institutions and developers.
  • Flexibility and Customization: Publicly available platforms provide the flexibility to modify and adapt the network model to specific research needs, enabling customized experimentation and analysis.
  • Community Collaboration: These projects foster collaboration and knowledge sharing within the 5G community, accelerating innovation and driving the development of new technologies.

Visualizing 5G Performance for Enhanced Understanding

The research goes beyond simply building a 5G network model by incorporating data visualization techniques to enhance understanding and analysis. Utilizing software like Prometheus, Node Exporter, and Grafana, the researchers can visualize key network parameters, making the testbed more interactive and easier to analyze. This visualization:

  • Aids in Comprehension: Provides a clear and intuitive representation of network performance, making it easier to understand complex 5G concepts.
  • Facilitates Efficient Monitoring: Enables real-time monitoring of network performance, allowing researchers to identify potential issues and optimize network configurations.
  • Supports Network Scaling: Provides valuable insights for scaling the network and optimizing resource allocation for future growth.

Driving 5G Innovation in Indonesia

By building a 5G network model with interactive data visualization, the xG Research Center aims to:

  • Democratize 5G Research: Make 5G research more accessible to universities, research institutions, and developers in Indonesia.
  • Accelerate 5G Innovation: Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing within the 5G ecosystem, driving the development of new applications and services.
  • Contribute to 5G Deployment: Provide valuable insights and recommendations for optimizing 5G network deployment and management in Indonesia.
