Communications Engineering – Form 1G to 5G and beyond

In the World Class Professor Event, we will hold the Guest Lecture on the topic of Communications Engineering – From 1G to 5G and Beyond. We invite you to attend this event which will be held on :

This talks will take students will take students through the journey of Communications Engineering from the 1st Generation to the current 5th Generation and beyond. The talk will touch upon the need for wireless communication, the ever increasing demand for bandwidth, low latency etc and how Communication Engineering is evolving to meet those demands. The concept of wireless communication using illumination sources in our home and offices shall also be discussed. This will be an inspiring and interactive talk and should be of utmost interest to Engineering and Computing Science/Engineering students, researchers and practitioners.
In this event will be filled by Professor Wasiu O. Popoola. Professor Wasiu O.Popoola holds the Chair of Communications Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. He is also a Deputy Director of Learning and Teaching in the School of Engineering. In 2022, he was awarded RAEng/Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship to initiate ‘ethical LiFi’ research. He has published over 150 articles on the subject of Communications Engineering including two editions of an acclaimed book, ‘Optical Wireless Communications: System and Channel Modelling’. Professor Popoola is a science communicator appearing in science festivals and on “BBC Radio 5live Science” programme in Oct. 2017. His publications have more 7100 citations and an h-index of 35 on Google Scholar. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Access Journal, a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering Technology (FIET), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He has been invited to talk at various conferences including the 2016 IEEE Photonics Society Summer Topicals.
