STEI ITB held the first webinar in the BINAR STEI series of events, namely Academic and Research Discussions. The webinar with the topic \"Modern Electronic Warfare: Passive Radar\" took place on Friday, November 6, 2020, at 09.30-11.00 WIB using the zoom meeting platform and broadcast live on the STEI-ITB YouTube channel, attended by 120 participants. The STEI Webinar Series began with an opening remarks from Dr. Tutun Juhana, ST, MT “This webinar is certainly STEI's role in disseminating the research we are doing, so that the public can know what research is being done by STEI. Hopefully it can be useful for all participants who attend”, said the Dean of STEI. The event continued with the presentation of Dr. Joko Suryana's CV by Ahmad Izzuddin, ST, MT as moderator.<\/p>\n
This passive radar is a technology resulting from joint research by STEI-ITB and the Indonesian Ministry of Defense which began in 2017. \"In today's modern war era, one of the technologies that has developed is the 5th generation fighter aircraft, such as the F-35 or F-22, which have a very small radar reflection area (RCS). Therefore, this 5th generation fighter aircraft is very difficult to track by Active Radar. In addition to fighter aircraft, currently many missiles have been developed by developed countries that aim to track and destroy Radar Facilities. Passive Radar is one solution to this problem, where passive radar does not emit signals so that anti-radiation missiles will have difficulty tracking this radar device. The stealth technology of 5th generation fighter aircraft is only effective for certain frequencies, and this passive radar technology can detect signal scattering from the fighter aircraft.\" said Joko Suryana.
