BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - One of the lecturers at the Bandung Institute of Technology who is still actively writing on a blog is Ir. Budi Rahardjo, P.hD<\/a>. There are many reasons why someone writes. For Budi Rahardjo, a lecturer from Computer Engineering Research Group<\/a>, School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, writing is about creating documentation and sharing knowledge.<\/div>\n

\"I still write now because for me, blogging is about documentation. I used to write too harshly and sharply, so secondly, it's a way to teach myself to be creative. One of the difficulties in blogging is finding topics, so how do you always have those topics?\" he told ITB Public Relations at his residence on Jalan Bojong Koneng, Bandung, recently.<\/div>\n

Budi said that he has been actively writing on blogs since 2002. Until now, the number of articles he has published on the web... http:\/\/rahard.wordpress.com<\/a> totaling four thousand posts. The articles cover a wide variety of topics, including technology, coffee, photography, and other life topics. \"My blog posts aren't specifically focused on any particular topic,\" he said.<\/div>\n

He enjoys blogging because his writing is better preserved and neatly archived. That's what makes blogs so unique. Unlike the current trend of social media, where information circulates only briefly, is easily lost, and is difficult to reference. \"It's different when we write on a blog; it's easy to find,\" he added.<\/div>\n

Nowadays, many people are shifting from blogging to vlogging on YouTube. However, Budi believes that the presence of YouTube won't disrupt blogging. Instead, it will foster greater collaboration between blog writers and videos. He has now also started actively uploading videos to YouTube.<\/div>\n

He believes students should also actively blog to hone their writing skills, as many students still lack the skills to write well, both formally and informally.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\"I teach students to blog to get them writing. Most students don't have a place to write because they're busy and so on. So their writing is terrible, both formal and informal. It's not because they don't know how to write well, but because they haven't been trained,\" he said.<\/div>\n

The rahard.wordpress.com blog has a large number of visitors. However, he isn't particularly interested in blogging as a way to earn money. \"Although in the past, people often asked for reviews of new notebooks, cameras, and Wi-Fi access points,\" Budi said.<\/div>\n

Due to his busy schedule, Budi can only write two or three articles a week. Previously, he would write one blog post almost every day. His writings were short and to the point, not overly wordy.<\/div>\n

Budi Rahardjo seems to never run out of writing ideas. He believes that everything around him can be turned into a piece. \"I have no problem finding topics. I always have ideas because I just have to look at the world outside. In fact, I find newspaper editorials the most difficult because you have to write every day, the topics have to be current, you have to be knowledgeable, and the writing has to be good.\"<\/div>\n

He is known as an expert in network security. When asked about this, he stated that a secure system is one with sufficient security. This ensures that hackers or criminals won't attack your own system, but instead, other systems.<\/div>\n
