BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Once again proving their capabilities in the international arena, ITB students have successfully won five champion nominations at once in the I-CAPS (International Student Joint Capstone Design Project) competition which is entering its fifth year in 2017. I-CAPS itself is a collaborative program between several universities, namely ITB, Universitas Kebangsaan Malaysia, Nanyang Technological University, Tianjin University, and National Cheng Kung University with the Innovation Hub Center for Engineering Education (IHCEE) Chonbuk National University, which is a consortium of 13 universities in South Korea.<\/p>\n

Sekilas I-CAPS <\/strong><\/p>\n

Within the I-CAPS series, there is also a sub-competition, namely d-Camp (International Students Design Camp), which was held in Bandung last February. Each I-CAPS program has two d-CAMPs implemented in Indonesia-Korea or Malaysia-Korea. In addition to being a forum for submitting initial proposals for I-CAPS 2017, in a relatively short period of time, participants are expected to be able to collaborate in finding ideas, designing, and making prototypes according to the given theme and topic.<\/p>\n

The group work system was conducted remotely from February to August. Remote collaboration presented a unique challenge because, in addition to coming from various engineering and design disciplines, each group consisted of students from two different countries. For example, one group might have five to seven students from Korea and Indonesia, another from Korea and Singapore, and so on, with each group consisting of students from Korea. After approximately five months of designing and building the tool, participants presented their team's results in August in South Korea.<\/p>\n

Works, Achievements, and Hopes <\/strong><\/p>\n

Of the 20 competing teams, 23 ITB students were spread across eight teams. Five of the eight teams won the championship, with one team each receiving the grand prize and silver medal, and three teams receiving bronze medals. Below are the details of the ITB team members and the equipment they designed: <\/p>\n

1.\tGrand Prize diraih oleh Iffah Faizah (Teknik Mesin 2013), Arlene Dupe (Arsitektur 2013), Ichwaldo H. Sendyartha (Electrical Power Engineering 2013)<\/strong>, Park In Ju (Chonnam University, Electronic Computer), and Byeon Mi Jeong (Chonnam University, Electronic Computer); with the Relax Me prototype, a stress level detector and aromatherapy.<\/p>\n

2.\tSilver diraih oleh Irham Mulkan Rodiana (Electrical Engineering 2013)<\/strong>, Freddy Kurniawan (Mechanical Engineering 2013), Ninik Karnia (Product Design 2013), Choi Ye Chan (Chonbuk National University, Chemical Engineering), and Kim Du Gyeong (Chonbuk National University, Chemical Engineering); with the Re-lease prototype, a urinal device that can detect health from urine.<\/p>\n

3.\tBronze diraih Kevin Sunjaya (Electrical Engineering 2013)<\/strong>Obert (Mechanical Engineering 2013), Regina Dyani Dwiharini (Product Design 2013), Kim Bo Kyung (Mokpo National University, Information Protection), and Moon Su Yeon (Mokpo National University, Information Protection); with the Deblice prototype, a tool that can facilitate communication for the blind and deaf.<\/p>\n

4.\tBronze diraih oleh M. Dieno Pradana (Teknik Mesin 2013), Tiara Annisaa (Manajemen Rekayasa Industri 2013), Kinari Nur Aulia (Desain Produk 2013), Kim Sol (Chungnam University, Radio Science Engineering), dan Han Na Rae (Chungnam University, Radio Science Engineering); dengan prototipe Azco, suatu alat elderly companion untuk lansia.<\/p>\n

5.\tBronze diraih oleh Ika Kurniawati (Teknik Mesin 2013), Faisal Fathoni (Teknik Lingkungan 2013), Rio Apriliady (Desain Produk 2013), Yoon So Young (Chonbuk National University, Teknik Biomedik), dan Cha Eun Hye (Chonbuk National University, Teknik Biomedik); dengan prototipe Kof, alat filter batuk portabel.<\/p>\n

The four groups that won the Grand Prize, Gold Prize, and Silver Prizes will then be invited to E2Festa (Engineering Education Fiesta-Capstone Design Fair). E2Festa, scheduled to be held this November in Gwangju, South Korea, is a technology festival where innovations from eight innovation hubs at South Korean universities will showcase their products.<\/p>\n

Regarding these achievements, the winners expressed their hope for those still in college to continue achieving. The first step is to try and be brave enough to seize opportunities, because no one knows where they will lead. \"Don't forget to take care of your health, too!\" they concluded the interview. <\/p>\n
