Gathering for Project Accomplishment \u201cThe Enhancement of Cyber Security Capability of Indonesia\u201d<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, August 6, 2014, ITB together with KOICA and PMC (MarkAny) held a Gathering for Project Accomplishment \u201cEnhancement of Cyber Security Capability of Indonesia\u201d at the ITB-KOREA Cyber Security R&D Center, ITB Jatinangor Campus.<\/p>\n

The grant project named \u201cThe Enhancement of Cyber Security Capability of Indonesia\u201d is a bilateral collaboration between the Republic of Indonesia, through the Directorate of Higher Education (DIKTI) and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) with the Republic of Korea, through the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) which collaborates in developing ICT strategies in the form of development Cyber Security Center <\/strong>and other supporting programs.<\/p>\n

The event which took place at the ITB-KOREA Cyber Security R&D Center (CSC) was opened by the Director General of DIKTI, Prof. Djoko Santoso, and attended directly by the Director General of Informatics Applications of KOMINFO Ir. Bambang Heru Tjahyono, Msc, ITB Rector Prof. Akhmaloka, Ph.D, Resident Representative of KOICA Indonesia Office, Mr, KIM, Byung-gwan, CEO of MarkAny Inc, Dr. John Choi, Dean of STEI-ITB, Prof. Dr. Suwarno, and other representatives from the Korean Embassy, MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND CULTURE, DIRECTORATE GENERAL OF POTHAN KEMENHAN, BAPPENAS, KEMLU, POLRI etc.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, Dr. John Choi as PMC described various programs and activities that have been implemented over the past 2 years, starting from the construction of the ITB-KOREA Cyber Security R&D Center, the initiation of a master's program in Information Security, Manager & IT Administrator training to the International Cyber Security Seminar (CYSE) 2013 and 2014. KOICA, ITB and MarkAny together have made a big leap in preparing for the big challenges that Indonesia will face regarding cyber security in the future.<\/p>\n

In his discussion, Ir. Bambang Heru Tjahyono, MSc., explained the importance of collaboration between various elements, including educational institutions, government, and the industrial sector, to continuously improve Indonesia's cybersecurity capabilities. Awareness<\/em> \"Information security must start with small steps so that improvement efforts will be more easily achieved,\" he added. Furthermore, the Director of Bilateral Foreign Funding at BAPPENAS, Kennedy Simanjuntak, Ph.D., added that the functionality and sustainability of both infrastructure and established programs are top priorities that must be given close attention.<\/p>\n

Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Prof. Dr. Suwarno, also explained that this excellent collaboration will continue to be maintained through educational, development, and research programs involving various institutions. So far, through the ITB-KOREA CSC, STEI-ITB has fostered various collaborations with foreign universities, NGOs, and local city governments. In the future, the ITB-KOREA CSC building is expected to become the best cybersecurity center in Indonesia and even in Asia.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
