Bandung, August 2026 — Six undergraduate students from the Electrical Engineering Study Program at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) have been selected to represent ITB and Indonesia in the Netherlands–Southeast Asia Semiconductor Talent Programme 2026, an international programme that brings together young talents from Southeast Asia with academics and the Dutch semiconductor industry ecosystem.

The six students are Muhammad Azfar Almuzammil Yusup (13221054), Filbert Garciano (13222086), Akmal Hafizh Musyaffa (13222057), Muhammad Shafiyuddin Mihradi (13222116), Pierre Gavin Tan (13222097), and Chobirudin Jamil Yudaprawira (13222113).

Organized by Nuffic Southeast Asia, the programme was held from 3–14 August 2026 at the Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia (ASEM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Malaysia. The programme provides selected students from six Southeast Asian countries with opportunities to gain first-hand exposure to developments in the semiconductor industry while building international networks.

An Opportunity to Explore a World-Leading Semiconductor Ecosystem

One of the programme’s key highlights is the opportunity for participants to gain deeper insights into the Dutch semiconductor ecosystem, one of the leading semiconductor ecosystems in the world. The Netherlands is home to major semiconductor companies such as ASML, NXP, ASM, and BESI, with an ecosystem involving more than 50,000 professionals across over 300 companies.

Throughout the two-week programme, participants took part in lectures, seminars, industry visits, and networking activities. These activities provided insights into semiconductor technology, manufacturing processes, industry competency requirements, and opportunities for academic and professional collaboration.

Beyond technical knowledge, the participants also had the opportunity to engage with students from various Southeast Asian countries, academics, and industry representatives. These cross-border interactions provided valuable opportunities to broaden perspectives and establish networks that may support future opportunities in education, research, and professional careers.

Preparing the Next Generation of Semiconductor Talent

The Netherlands–Southeast Asia Semiconductor Talent Programme is part of a multi-year initiative running from 2026 to 2028, building on the successful pilot programme held in 2025. The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation between the Netherlands and Southeast Asia, support semiconductor talent development, encourage academic exchange and industry exposure, and facilitate access for Southeast Asian talent to the Dutch innovation ecosystem.

For the six ITB Electrical Engineering students, participation in the programme provided an opportunity to connect their academic learning with real-world developments in the semiconductor industry. This international experience is expected to strengthen their competencies and prepare them to contribute to the development of Indonesia’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Their participation also represents ITB’s contribution to strengthening international networks and developing Indonesian talent in the semiconductor sector, an increasingly strategic field for technological and industrial advancement worldwide.

The participation of the six ITB students in this programme was also supported by PT PLN (Persero). This support contributed to providing the students with an opportunity to gain international experience, expand their professional networks, and gain deeper insights into the global semiconductor ecosystem.
