Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Prof. Trio Adiono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., a faculty member of the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB, received the Karya Anak Bangsa award in the Outstanding Individual category at the 2025 Health Innovation Festival organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia on 7\u20139 December 2025 at Kartika Expo, Balai Kartini \u2013 Jakarta. This award was granted for his contributions in advancing locally developed health technology innovations based on domestically produced microchips. .<\/em> .<\/p>\n

In an interview, Prof. Trio explained that the innovation focuses on designing local processor chips that can be applied to various medical devices. These chips are engineered to perform functions that support the operation of medical equipment and have already been implemented in anthropometric devices. In addition, the innovation has spurred the development of various other healthcare technologies such as patient monitors, non-invasive ventilators, HFNC devices, ECG machines, infusion pumps, syringe pumps, plate readers, EEG readers, and Holter ECG devices.<\/p>\n

Prof. Trio emphasized that the ability to design microchips domestically is crucial, as these components form the core of electromedical devices. With the availability of locally designed chips, dependence on imported components can be reduced, and the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) in medical devices can be increased. He added that microchips play a significant role in determining the features and functionalities of devices, thereby opening opportunities for broader innovation. The availability of locally manufactured health equipment is expected to improve service quality in healthcare facilities and hospitals across Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

This innovation is the result of collaborative work with several SEEI ITB faculty members: Nur Ahmadi, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D.; Nana Sutisna, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; Dr.Eng. Ir. Infall Syafalni, S.T., M.Sc.; and Rahmat Mulyawan, S.T., M.T., M.Sc. The collaboration also involves national industries\u2014PT Miki and PT Xirka\u2014which support production and testing processes. According to Prof. Trio, the development workflow includes processor chip design, firmware development, PCB and product design, as well as testing, which is an essential step in ensuring the technology\u2019s readiness for use.<\/p>\n
