Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Student team from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB achieved another outstanding international accomplishment. Cargovision, a final-year project from the Information Systems and Technology study program, won Gold Medals at the 2025 Global Start-up Competition \/ Global Start-up Design Thinking Hackathon Day hosted by Chung-Ang University, South Korea. .<\/em> . .<\/em> .<\/p>\n

This international competition involved students from Korea and partner universities worldwide. The entire series of activities\u2014from registration, document submission, screening, to the awarding ceremony\u2014was conducted online from 2 October to 21 November 2025. The competition focused on developing digital technology, ICT, and multimedia-based startup concepts through a design thinking approach, spanning ideation, prototyping, and business modeling. .<\/em> . .<\/em> . .<\/em> .<\/p>\n

In this competition, the SEEI ITB team developed Cargovision, an AI-powered computer vision system for automated inspection of cargo container physical conditions at ports. The technology can detect damages such as dents, cracks, corrosion, and holes using camera images or X-ray scans, producing digital reports that significantly accelerate inspection processes that are still predominantly manual. This issue is highly relevant to port operations in Indonesia, where import container dwelling time remains around 2.8\u20132.9 days and Truck Turn Around (TRT) often exceeds the standard. These inefficiencies contribute to increased logistics costs, long truck queues, and demurrage fees. Cargovision offers a solution that accelerates inspection processes and supports port ecosystem digitalization. .<\/em> . .<\/em> . .<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The Cargovision Team consists of four SEEI ITB students:<\/p>\n

    Team responsibilities included developing the computer vision model, integrating system components, and building the product and business model\u2014ensuring that Cargovision serves as both a technical solution and a product ready for adoption by port operators. .<\/em>.<\/p>\n

    The team's participation in this competition was driven by the alignment between their final-year research and the competition\u2019s theme, as well as the opportunity to validate the Cargovision solution on an international stage. Furthermore, container damage and manual inspection remain global challenges faced by ports worldwide.<\/p>\n

    Following their Gold Medal achievement, the Cargovision team aims to advance toward real-world implementation through pilot projects with industry partners, particularly ports under PT Pelindo. Beyond improving visual inspection accuracy, the team has begun developing X-ray data integration and real-time risk analytics to provide a more comprehensive assessment of container conditions. .<\/em> . .<\/em> .<\/p>\n

    Cargovision is now being prepared as a startup and has secured two early-stage funding sources\u2014from Universitas Indonesia and Pertamina. This support will be used for further development, business model refinement, and establishing partnerships with ports and logistics companies both in Indonesia and internationally.<\/p>\n
