The Ganapati team consisting of Vienda Fadilla Fahmy (Electrical Engineering 2010), Dwinta Astiarini, Dibyanta Andika, Bayu Ramadhan (Business and Management 2013), William Maha Putra (Mechanical Engineering 2009) won 2nd place nationally in the 2013 Danone Youth Social Entrepreneur (DYSE) Country Final event held at Balai Sudirman, Jakarta, on Wednesday (27\/02\/13). In the competition organized by Groupe Danone Indonesia, the Ganapati team succeeded in becoming one of 5 winners who beat 23 semifinalists who came from various universities throughout Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\"This event is a business competition activity for students that was introduced in 2013 in the first model. Participants came from 12 different universities, both public and private and mostly on the island of Java,\" said DYSE 2013 Project Leader, Kusuma Adisaputra. The competition, which was previously called Danone Trust, was then conceptualized to prioritize social businesses that empower communities while being profit-oriented and was given the title Danone Youth Social Entrepreneurship (DYSE).<\/p>\n
In DYSE 2013, the Ganapati team brought the idea of embracing housewives in Ciwidey Village, West Java to process strawberries into chips and sweets labeled with the brand \"BerryDay!\" In the presentation in the Country Final stage, the Ganapati team presented a role play concept where they acted as tour guides and the judges as tourists in Ciwidey. The presentation flow was made very dynamic and cheerful, where the judges were invited to participate by wearing tourist hats during the 10-minute presentation.<\/p>\n
In the initial stage of DYSE 2013, there were 100 competing teams, which were then narrowed down to 24 teams from 12 leading universities in Indonesia that qualified for the national stage. There were two ITB teams that qualified for this round, namely Ashvani and Ganapati. In this national stage, 5 winners were decided consisting of the Bimasakti team from Padjajaran University, Ganapati from ITB, Soul’Darity from Prasetya Mulya College of Economics, Drupadi from Gadjah Mada University, and Majapahit from Parahyangan Catholic University. Together with the other four winners, the Ganapati team received 15 million rupiah in funding to test their business concept and provide operational assistance for their studies until December 2013.<\/p>\n
