Iping Supriana, DEA, along with the ITB Leading Research Team in 2002/2003, has apparently continued to reap proud achievements. After previously being named the Winner of the Indonesia – Asia Pacific ICT Award 2004 in the Best of Education & Training category, in September 2012, this DMR research also won the 2012 West Java ICT Award as the Best Innovation Product based on Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The ITB DMR development team consists of M. Arif Rahmat, ST; Ayu Purwarianti, ST, MT, Ph.D; and Peb Ruswono Aryan, ST, MT.

This DMR research was initially a digital version of Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) research using low-cost digital document scanners to read Computer Answer Sheets (LJK). The main challenge for a form that goes into a computer is... scanner is the occurrence of geometric distortion in the form of shifting or rotation which is sometimes invisible to the eye but greatly affects the accuracy of the reading.

With capital scanner simple digital image and after various experiments, DMR-Extractor was developed which has a module in it scanning, extraction, and report generation. To be able to store and improve image quality for accurate reading, the ITB DMR Development Team also implemented several advanced algorithms that enable the reading of all types of LJK, including OMR LJK. For LJK form creation, the DMR-Editor is also provided, which is useful for creating LJK form designs that are also very low in duplication costs.

Over the past nine years, various exam providers have transitioned to DMR technology from previously using OMR. Institutions ranging from universities and corporations to psychology institutions and tutoring organizations, even governments, use DMR programs for various purposes. DMR offers numerous advantages compared to its predecessor, OMR.

Jika sebelumnya pemeriksaan ujian menggunakan scanner Since computers are very expensive, with a single machine costing up to 200 million rupiah, the DMR represents a breakthrough in answer sheet testing that saves money. Less than 10 million DMRs are already available for use. Prof. Iping and his team are constantly improving their speed and accuracy. In 2013, the latest DMR was able to check up to 12,000 LJKs per minute without compromising accuracy. In addition to checking answers, the DMR also features test answer analysis and questionnaire statistical results.

When using DMR, test takers can use markers or pens when filling in answers, unlike OMR, which requires the use of a 2B pencil when filling in the worksheet. Not only test takers but also test administrators benefit from this DMR technology. This is because DMR technology allows for lower worksheet printing costs. Test administrators can use photocopy paper, single-color answer sheets, or even print with a regular printer. Paper sizes are also unlimited, ranging from A3 to A5. These various conveniences are just a few of the many advantages of this DMR technology.

Targetkan Pengembangan

His busy schedule as a lecturer, student advisor from undergraduate to postgraduate level, research fellow, and Chair of the West Java Association of Computer Science Universities (APTIKOM) apparently does not prevent Prof. Iping from continuing to develop and evaluate his work. Various development plans for DMR have been planned for research and application, such as research related to image content. DMR is also planned for application in the form of smart robots.

Intensively developed and used by thousands of institutions, DMR has even penetrated the international market. DMR is used as a data entry tool at Chevron, Darya Varia, and Toyota Astra. Hundreds of universities have used DMR technology for exams, questionnaires, and registration purposes. DMR is also used in national and regional civil servant (CPNS) selection tests, recruitment for state-owned enterprises (BUMN), banks, and private companies, teacher certification tests, banker and procurement officer certifications, and police and military exams, which generally take the form of psychological tests. Not to forget, DMR has become a... software Official form of the Ministry of National Education for the 2008 UASBN, the first national scale formal exam to be filled in with a cross, and also used in the 2013 ITB employee recruitment psychological test.

Prof. Iping admitted that he continues to be the main developer of this DMR in order to provide the best for various parties, especially the Indonesian nation. "I can say that research at ITB is indeed 'down to earth'. But in order for research at ITB to be more competitive, there needs to be a proportional division between fundamental, technological, and applied research. In addition, if you have creative ideas and good performance, always give the best to many people around us," said Prof. Iping Supriana closing the interview.

sumber: www.itb.ac.id

Digital Mark Reader (DMR), produk penelitian yang dikembangkan oleh tim ITB dengan ketua Prof. Dr.Ing.Ir.
