The speaker was Prof. Yasuhide Hobara, from The University of Electro-Communications (UEC), Japan.<\/p>\n<p>The public lecture attended by ET3086, ET5182 and ET6180 students from the Telecommunication Engineering Study Program explained that the electromagnetic measurement method using VLF\/LF can be used for:<br \/>\n1. Predicting earthquakes in the short term, or approximately two weeks in advance. This is due to the statistical correlation between ionospheric perturbations and earthquakes.<\/p>\n<p>2. Determining the location of lightning.
