SEEI ITB Lecturers Attend the International APEC “Smart Silver Innovation” Workshop 2025 in Korea

Bandung, stei.itb.ac.id – Two lecturers from the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB, Prof. Dr. Suhono Harso Supangkat and Dr. Allya Paramita Koesoema, officially received invitations to attend the APEC Workshop: Smart Silver Innovation (Phase 3) held on July 28–29, 2025, at Songdo ConvensiA, Incheon, South Korea. . . . . ..

This workshop was part of the broader agenda of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM3) 2025, which brought together various stakeholders from APEC member economies to discuss digital innovation, the transformation of ageing societies, and technology-based sustainable development policies. .....

Regional Collaboration for a Smart Silver Society

Organized by Waseda University, Japan, with funding support from the APEC Support Fund and participation from various member economies—including Korea, Japan, the United States, China, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia—the workshop aimed to develop a Smart Silver Society model through the utilization of digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Transformation (DX), and data-driven solutions for smart cities and elderly healthcare services. . .

The event also served as an important platform to bring together academics, policymakers, researchers, and industry practitioners from various APEC economies to formulate evidence-based recommendations for inclusive and resilient development. The discussions focused on ten main sectors, including:

• Elderly healthcare and services
• Digital transformation and AI
• Smart cities and digital government
• E-mobility, 5G, and entertainment for the elderly
• Cross-generational capacity building

The participation of SEEI ITB lecturers in this strategic forum demonstrates the institution’s active role in international networks related to technology policy development and digital innovation. This involvement is also aligned with SEEI ITB’s commitment to advancing research and technology that provide broad societal benefits, particularly in addressing global challenges such as population ageing and the digitalization of public services.

Through this participation, it is expected that SEEI ITB can further expand its contribution in formulating innovative and relevant multidisciplinary approaches within the context of Asia-Pacific regional cooperation.
